What you can look forward to As the Head of Finance & Administration you will be responsible for leading the local finance function as well as administrative and statutory responsibilities relating to Svitzer’s presence in India. Reporting to the Regional CFO in Dubai UAE, you will lead a team of finance professionals, ensuring financial reporting & controls while also having a strong handle on statutory reporting and filings. An important aspect of this role is also coordinating all other functional teams on site, providing all our employees a safe place to work and engaging environment to deliver results. What will you do Your key responsibilities will be: Member of the Board of Directors:
  • Appointed Director on the Board of Svitzer’s India legal entities.
  • Fulfil all fiduciary requirements as Director for the companies by representing the companies towards the government authorities in India as relevant. Specifically, ensure compliance requirements towards Directorate General of Shipping, Customs and other government department are completed.
  • Authorised signatory (in accordance with delegated authority) on all company documents, letters & communication, statutory accounts, tax returns, bank documents and any other legal documents related to the companies.
  • Exercise due diligence and care in handling all matter of the companies by acting in good faith.
  • Ensure that the companies comply with all relevant laws and regulations of India and local jurisdictions. Stay informed about changes in the legal and regulatory environment that may impact the companies. Remain aware of your responsibilities under the Companies Act which governs the functioning of companies in India.
  • Oversee the companies’ financial reporting and ensure accuracy and transparency. Review and approve financial statements and budgets for the companies.
  • Managing the merger of Svitzer India’s legal entities. Working with auditors and consultants as required, leading the audit of financials, and filing of tax returns.
Leadership of Administration:
  • Overall leader overseeing the matters of administration of the Svitzer India office.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the office facility. Manage leasing of office space, including layout, equipment, and furniture.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations for the office premises. Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures as per Svitzer’s requirements.
  • Oversee and manage the IT support for office equipment and systems, supported by IT service providers.
  • Ensure office administration expenses are made with due care and consideration and always remain within the Budget.
  • Foster alignment and engagement across all functional teams represented in Svitzer India office, coordinating with the global leaders of function as needed to drive alignment, performance and engagement across the Svitzer India office.
Region consolidated segment financial reporting:
  • Oversee timely completion of reporting of region’s consolidated financials, monthly, quarterly and year-end closing procedures and rolling forecasts.
  • Oversee timely completion of Sustainability reporting for region every quarter.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and experience in implementation of these accounting standards in addressing and resolving issues, if any, in periodic financial reporting.
  • Financial close and consolidation in company’s finance reporting system.
  • Owner of the region’s financial control dashboard. Drive the control framework agenda and address control gaps in countries and region to bring the Region to effective state on all measurements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for select entities and address audit findings with hands-on assistance to the accounting teams whenever required.
People Leadership:
  • Lead the finance team with clarity of objectives and roles & responsibilities. Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, quality in deliverables and high sense of urgency in meeting business requirements and deadlines.
  • Coach, motivate and develop team members with shared Svitzer vision, clear sense of purpose and how to think ahead and raise the bar on quality in everything we do.
Who we are looking for
  • A leader with a mature mindset to handle the important statutory and fiduciary responsibility of representing the company’s legal entities in India.
  • People leadership experience of 5+ years in a mid-size company in similar or advanced capacity.
  • Previous experience as a statutory director is a must.
  • University degree in finance, business, business administration or a related field (Master level is preferred).
  • Strong financial acumen with knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Strong mindset to take charge and responsibility of administrative matters and taking care of people on site.
  • Prior industry experience in towage and transportation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Articulate in written and spoken English. Excellent communicator who can structure information and communicate a clear message to all relevant stakeholders including senior management.
